Engage Gravial brakes with Powercordz Swift

Hi all, I know these brakes are really pretty old, but I recently sourced for them on eBay and got Powercordz Swift brake cables to go with it. My LBS says the clamp will probably bite and cut the cables upon first use, is it true/any way around it? I saw the threads on the modified clamp bolts for ax lightness brakes, do I need to source for something like that?
