Ordered my first set of 50mm rims today. I already have my new tubes at the ready, Continental Supersonic with 60mm valve. I'm assuming these valves won't be long enough to fit my track pump on the end of? Stupid amateur question I know but thought I'd ask before ordering extenders.

you need prolly 15mm more valve than the rim depth to be safe.. they may work and just depending on the pump head

Ah ok, thanks. Might grab some 40mm extenders then just to be safe.

I use tubes with 80mm valve stems on my 50 mm wheels.

I have 50mm rims and use 60mm tubes, you should be fine.

Do not use 40mm extenders with 60s please.

60 mm valves have always worked a charm for me!

60mm Conti Supersonic is just perfect for my 50mm Boras.

I'm using 80mm stems, in my Mavic Cosmics. I tried 60mm, but they were too short.

Not all manufactures measure valves the same way.
So one brand can be shorter than the other.

Personally I dont like it when valves stick out a lot, on the other hand too short is not handy in use.

Conti Supersonic are light but are racing tires. Not the best choice when you're out on durability/reliability for training and normal use.

I run short valves in my clinchers (41 contis in a 46 deep rim). The end sticks out just enough to open and close it by hand. Long valves are ugly imo and it's easy to just grab and screw on an extender when needed.

Also saves a couple of grams 8)
