I lopped about 30 g from a Deda Superleggera RS seatpost and found what looks like a void in the inner wall.

You can clearly see the bubble in the offcut along with another below it (circled). Any warranty was probably already voided when I removed the logos (Note to self: cut first, debadge later).

I’m not too worried as it’s a good 10 cm away from where the post is clamped, but I thought I should get a second opinion from the experts here. I figure I should probably put on a drop of epoxy or something to be on the safe side. Any suggestions for specific products? I’m guessing hardware store two-part epoxy won’t cut it.

Dad: Yeah... well... now his body’s fine, but his mind is gone.

Very interesting, there may have been residual stress in the part that was essentially released once you cut the seatpost. Or it could have been there all along (improper resin content and/or mold control).

Your warranty was voided anyway when you cut it.
There is no order to 'remove logos' and 'cut' - both are necessary for the ultimate goal.

That is interesting. Thanks for posting. Yeah, I wouldn't worry about this. Obviously part of you is annoyed that your item is not perfect, as I would be, but yeah, not a problem. I can only imagine the horrors that lurk inside every carbon frame out there...

I do look inside frames :) on some brands it is... "interesting", on some what I see is simply fabulous .

I can be wrong, and have plenty of examples for that ;)

Thanks, all. Consensus seems to be don’t worry.

Part of my concern was that cutting my fork was next on the agenda. Happy to report all went well and lost another 27 g on projected build weight. So based on a sample of size n = 1, we can say Colnago > Deda.

No, i would not worry either.

Just imagine all components like frames, crankarms and such you can not see.
I can bet there is more of these things just about everywhere...
