I am not happy that my S-Works 6 shoes have a faulty dial, which does not grip the wire strong enough. They come loose even going over rough road or from unclipping :(

I prefer the fit and adjust-ability of dials, but in times like this the lace up version sounds very attractive as there is nothing that can go wrong with them.

Would it be a hasty decision to swap them for the lace version or should I give the dials one more chance? Has anyone found multiple pairs of boa dials not griping tight enough?

it sounds like a bad dial - you should get a warranty replacement or at worst order a spare set here:

$8 is a lot cheaper than new shoes.
also laces are nice but really hard to adjust on the bike.
thanks,

Seconded on the warranty suggestion - our shop's Boa rep dropped off a whole bag of replacement dials so we could replace any faulty ones at no cost and with no wait. Just bring them back into the shop where you got them.

A wee bit off topic but I much prefer Velcro straps. Simple and effective. The bonts I am wearing now have Velcro and ratchet which is ok.

100% a faulty dial. A well designed Boa system is still the best - more advanced and more convenient - closing system IME.
