Hi all,
Seeing as Campagnolo support for 10 speed cassettes has been rubbish, I am thinking about getting a Shimano freehub for my 2012 Campagnolo Neutrons. Would you know of the weight difference between the standard Campagnolo body vs the Shimano version?
I have hunted around the web with out luck, but I seem to remember Campagnolo has intentionally made the Shimano version heavy.
Also has anyone got the part number?
Cheers

What do you mean Campag support for 10 speed has been rubbish?
You mean you can't get a record 10 ti cassette any more? Plenty of lower end options still available, considering that the higher tier groupsets have been 11 for ??6?? years?
Do you really think shimano will still be supporting DA 10 spd after the same amount of time?

Campy list the HG version of the Neutron as 39 g heavier. http://www.campagnolo.com/media/files/035_204_Technical_specifications_wheels_range_Campagnolo_2015.pdf
You do know that spacing is different between Campy and Shimano 10-speed?
I'm running several Campy 10-speed bikes and can still get the gears I want.

Just to jump in and amalgamate ...
Shimano cassette body is heavier as it's steel which ideally, if average consumers are going to be average consumers and not do their cassette locking rings up tight enough, it has to be, of only to reduce the amount of hand-clapped-to-forehead *Oh my God it must be a design fault, all my cassettes have mashed my cassette body splines" instances that have to be dealt with by shops, wholesalers and warranty departments across the piste ...
There is a PEO-coated alloy option now, as used on the Bora 35 / 60 2015/16 versions, part number WH-BO015X1 which is Shimano 8, 9, 10 and 11s compatible, barely heavier than the Campag version. Just think, if Shimano had cut their splines deeper, it could have been the same weight ...
As others have said, plenty of 10s options around, and not to put too fine a point on it, all of these are still in production at the factory, all still available to aftermarket suppliers:

AM | CS9-VLX25 1286283 VELOCE UD 10s sprockets 12-25
The problem is, most AM suppliers probably won't carry Record range Campag 10s because after years of having margins shaved to the bone, frankly, there's nothing in it for them & contrary to what appears to be popular belief, they do the supply thing for money, not love ...

Thanks for the tips guys. this is very useful.... I am moving over to a hybrid system for practical running costs moving forwards.
I do stand by my comments about Campags support of 10 speed. Sorry to upset people with this opinion... but if your looking for a Campag cassette that can climb and decend (say a 12-27 ) thats light weight and doesn't cost the earth your out of luck, the cheaper ones are still expensive, heavy and the cog options are limited generally to 13-26 and 12-25... this is a bit crappy if you live out in the mountains in BC as I do. The Record cassette is very expensive and again cog options are limited compared with the competition.
They offer nothing that compares to say Shimano's Ultergra 10 speed cassette for example. 220g for around £35-£40. I personally wouldn't buy their systems again just because the cost vs weights vs options are not competitive for me. But again this is just my personal experience. This said my Neutrons rock and role and I love the companys spirit - yay

Thanks so much for the note about the light weight Bora free hub. Very useful
