I too would have to use a 90mm stem and that is just not going to happen. I am pretty fussy about bar shape and feel, pretty reasonable seeing that it is a major contact point. if it is the case (i suspect it is) that there is no alternate routing, so as to use a different bar/stem combination that is a major fail .... not to mention it is difficult to find the reach / drop (i think it is 93mm/123mm) and impossible to find stem angle......

.... what about guys with big hands who like a traditional drop bar? 123mm is tiny.

I had a chat with the on line support, they told me that there are few differences in geometry between 2017 and 2016 Madone H1 models. Also they said the for the 2017 models, those measures will not include the headset bearing cover, which is 15mm height. I found it quite strange. Could someone confirm this information?

That would not make sense because that part has to be there to use the system.

the main problem with the madone 9 is the default long reach bars(93mm). everyone else (canyon/willier/fsa) sell integrated bars with short reach ~70-80mm. trek should offer a compact version asap. i see a lot of clients ordering 90mm version of the stem/bar. ugly

But it would make sense because traditionally that's how headtubes have always been measured.

Does any other manufacturer include the bearing cover in measurement? Don't think so. Back in the day, head tube measurement did not include external headset either.

As long as its clear what the measure includes or doesn't include -- its fine. Can do some math to figure out what you need.

On the 54 it looks like the stack height has increased from 52.6 in 2016 to 53.1 in 2017 (5mm), however the head tube is still 120mm. That doesn't make much sense and doesn't align with the 15mm spacer comment.

Trust me. The head tube measurement is to the top of the bearing cover.

I heard from Trek that a un-publicized change in 2017 Madone 9 is a hidden magnet drive side for power meters. Mine is an '16 and didnt have it when I waived a strong magnet near the BB shell.

Hi,
Just bought a madone.
Went for a testride yesterday, but came back home after 5km.
Reason: almost no braking power.
Someone has the same problem? Or can help me?
Wheels are enve SES, and have enough stopping power in my other bike with shimano brakes.
So i guess it is not the fault of the wheels.

Someone has an idea?

Check the brake pad alignment. My brakes (w/ Zipp 404) work very well, and have never given me any issues.
