Looks like they found it on the 2013 Look website. Say hello to a 695 knock off.

Hi guys, long time lurker, first question: does anyone know how the 2017 Madone 9.5 ended heavier (20gm) than the 2016 Madone 9.5? The 2017 has new Dura Ace and lighter wheels - Vision Metron 40 vs Aura 5's. They tires are 50gm heavier but the wheels and groupset advantages should be around 4 times that.

2017 specs:
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/road-bikes/performance-race-bikes/madone/madone-9-5/p/1472000-2017

2016 specs:
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/road-bikes/performance-race-bikes/madone/madone-9-5/p/1472000-2016

Any help is much appreciated.

At a glance, there'd be 50g added through the change from Paradigm RXL to Montrose Elite saddle.

No change to the construction of the frame, but I suspect metallic silver would be heavier than matte black by a fraction also.

First Trek I've liked in awhile. That said, the crankset is awful looking.

Thanks for the help guys. I didn't consider the paint.

Just pulled the trigger on a heavily discounted 2016 Madone 9.5. It's going to be a long weekend until it's delivered on Monday.

edit:
or is the 9.5 the H2 passform and the 9.9 the H1? … and only in the configurator will not show the H1 picture …

Can anybody help me and give me a answer? Thanks a lot! Is the top tupe now straight or is this die H2 Option?

The H1 also comes with the OCLV 700 carbon and is manufactured in the US. The H2 comes with the OCVL600 Carbon and is manufactured overseas. H1=9.9 and H2=9.5.

@CanadianBiker that's not quite true. Of the 'off the shelf' 2016 and 2017 models, only the Trek Factory Racing RSL model is H1/700OCLV.

Aside from that, the only way to get an H1 bike is through Project One.

The 2017 9.9 will be similar spec to the 2016 (Di2, Aeolus 5 D3 clinchers etc.). Matte black with a bit of red and gloss Trek logos by the looks of it.

@TomHelly I agree but the700 OLCV carbon is only available in the H1 Fit. You can order the RSL edition or buy a project one like I did with the RSL colours but different components, my receipt/manual still said Trek 9.9 and not 9.5 even if it was a ProjectOne and not the RSL. My sons bike which is an H2 says 9.5 for the same ProjectOne.

Can an H2 fit RSL be ordered which would hopefully be 700 OLCV series?

H2 automatically mean 600 OLCV but you can order an H2 with the RSL paint, so it will look exactly like the RSL bike but H2 head tube, actually 2 of the riders for Trek this year seem to be riding H2 and not H1 from what I can see at the Tour de France this year.

The Madone is a great looking bike.
It's seems bikes and Pro's are slowly steering away from a ridiculous saddle to bar drop.
Bikes seem to be levelling out a little, it looks better and it makes sense.
The crazy drop you seem to see mostly from amateur racers looks a little out of touch.
Aesthetically the new Madone is a winner.

what don't understand about the Madone is that AFAIK it can ONLY work with the integrated aero bars. At the list price there is no sensible understanding to buy the frameset+bars rather than a full bike.

never mind if you don't like the bars.

unless there is an alternate routing solution

the main problem with the madone 9 is the default long reach bars(93mm). everyone else (canyon/willier/fsa) sell integrated bars with short reach ~70-80mm. trek should offer a compact version asap. i see a lot of clients ordering 90mm version of the stem/bar. ugly
