Ok update on the cancellation, it's a false alarm, not my fault though
They don't take any more orders for F8 XLight because the order is FULL..
They will be produced, but no more other than the scheduled ones.

I wish more products would specify a weight limit and with a lighter rider in mind.
I'm 140 lbs and if I go buy an off the shelf set of wheels that are also suitable for someone who is 200 lbs.
so I built a set of low spoke count light weight rims that is lighter and stiff enough for me, but not recommended for heavier guys.
This is weight weenies after all

Specialized Tarmac Sworks SL6, Moots Compact, Carl Strong Titanium
I'm thinking this is marketing brilliance. take all the existing F8s which are below spec for weight, slap a low rider weight on it and you've simultaneously reduced your manufacturing
Issues and increased your margin. Wonder if this was conceived by the same guy behind the Campag record "red" brifters a few years back..

no explanation given so far.
let's wait and see the official announcement from Pinarello
They probably read this forum
For example, since I am on this forum, I changed most of my preconceptions..
You've been on this forum four months. Give it five or so more years and you'll see your preconceptions were right all along.

If you theory is correct then the F8 XLight will return after they sell more of the regular F8s
I'm one who would be willing to pay extra for a part that comes in at the low end of the weight spectrum.

Only 70-80g less than the standard F8? I was expecting 150g+ considering the weight limit, hype, and price. 70 is practically within manufacturing tolerances and makes me agree with the poster above who said these are just the underweight frames that used to go in the trash.

And here is a video of Froomey's F8 X-light --> https://youtu.be/CSw3L46B46A ... although exactly 6.8 kg still a very standard bike in terms of components. But yeah it simply works.
OFFTOPIC
Why would team Sky still race the old Garmin 510 units (saw it on G's bike) when the Garmin 520 is out there?

http://road.cc/content/tech-news/196961 ... hats-point This does seem odd considering brands like Cervelo and Cannondale can produce frames that are lighter than this but carry no rider weight penalties.
