I've reviewed other discussions surrounding this issue, but haven't seen a definitive answer. Most say the width of pins in the chain is the same between 10 and 11 speed, so 11 speed chain should be useable with either 9000 or 7900 components. Some say functionality may be degraded but don't stipulate how much.
Is anyone using an 11 speed chain successfully with 7900 components?
I appreciate your input.

I'm thinking of using the 11-speed chain on my 10-speed tandem. The 11-speed chain is lighter and it has the Shimano siltec friction-reducing treatment. For sure I'll use the 11-speed chain on the timing rings. I'll try this when the current chains wear out. I really li the Dura Ace 11-speed chain on my single bike. I'm able to get 3,000 miles from them with minimal wear.

I am also using an 11-speed chain on DA 7900 with not issue. It is a 11.93.
Have had great luck with these chains and they are reasonably priced too.
