Wireless only matters for the install. Once it's on the bike it stops being a feature and is just extra batteries.
I've seen quite a number of problems related to connectors in Di2, some of them forcing riders to retire from races. Servicing an e-Tube with a faulty connector is a real PITA, bad news if the bike has to be in the start pack the next day.
If the tethering in eTap is robust it is definitely a feature during the lifetime of the componentry.
