Why is this so difficult to find? Does it still exist?

Can anyone recommend any, preferably lightweight & available in white?

Searching around online seems to be an impossible task.

If you're not too good for it, the $2 eBay tape has no adhesives, and comes in many colors including white. Weight is 20g-40g per pair plus 7g for plugs if I remember correctly. If you want light ones you should buy some from several different vendors, as weight seems to vary from batch to bath or supplier to supplier.

The cheap foam tape from performance is adhesive and free perfect for re-wrapping if you are screwing with cockpits.

I hate cleaning the sticky stuff left behind by old bar tapes, so I apply electric tape over the adhesive of whatever bar tapes I use. As Iong as I wrap the bar tapes tightly, they don't need the sticky back to stay in place and can be re-used.

Why would you clean the bars unless you want to run them without tape?

However, I agree that the sticky backing is mostly here to make it harder to re-use the tape so you have to buy a new roll :(

I have also found that Zevlin bar tape, which does have adhesive, doesn't leave it on the bar when you unwrap it. I have managed to re-wrap one handlebar with the same tape a few times, and it never leaves any residue behind when I take it off.

IIRC, Lizard Skin does not have adhesive. I do not know whether it is lightweight, but it is quite comfortable.

Thanks everyone, some good options to go with here.

That's a good point above though. I have some spare adhesive bar tape back at my office & i'll see if it's possible to remove the strip. Sounds obvious but I never thought of that. Anyone tried it with the fizik stuff before?

it has worked for me on Fizik, deda, and all other tape I have used in the last 20 years. I do recall an occasional piece of bartape sticking to the tape but it wasnt a big deal.
