I am considering going to electronic shifting and would prefer to go eTap or Dura ace but not sure I want to give up my current gearing which is a 32 cassette. I know I can go Ultegra and they may eventually come out with a SRAM equivalent but wondering if anyone made the switch and gave up the 32 cassette for a 28 and what their thoughts were?

I'm pretty sure you can run an xtr mid cage derailleur with road di2 shifters. May? enable syncro shift as well??

No. Synchro won't work in a mixed group. But he already knows he can get a mid cage ultegra that will work.

Only if you run an XTR front derailleur too!

What front chainrings do you have? Perhaps you could run compacts up front (50x34) and a 28 rear?

I was going to pose the same question as pdlpsher1. If you are running 53/39t combo, consider 52/36t or 50/34t or buck those trends and go 50/36t (my favorite). Note that Praxis frowns on using its rings in the 50/36t, but I have been using a Praxis 50t with FSA 36t for months now with zero issues.

You can run Ultegra Di2 mid-cage and have 11-32 gearing if you are willing to give up some grams.
