I am considering going to electronic shifting and would prefer to go eTap or Dura ace but not sure I want to give up my current gearing which is a 32 cassette. I know I can go Ultegra and they may eventually come out with a SRAM equivalent but wondering if anyone made the switch and gave up the 32 cassette for a 28 and what their thoughts were?
I'm pretty sure you can run an xtr mid cage derailleur with road di2 shifters. May? enable syncro shift as well??

I was going to pose the same question as pdlpsher1. If you are running 53/39t combo, consider 52/36t or 50/34t or buck those trends and go 50/36t (my favorite). Note that Praxis frowns on using its rings in the 50/36t, but I have been using a Praxis 50t with FSA 36t for months now with zero issues.
