So I'm looking to upgrade from my Pinarello Rokh that is starting to get a bit old. I'm looking to spend >$1100 on a frame, and have the option to buy a 2011 BMC SLR01 frame from my local shop thats within my budget. I'm wondering though if it is better to get a top of the line frame from 2011, or an entry level frame from 2016. Considering my budget, is the SLR a good idea? Or would something like a low-lever 2016 Tarmac, Allez, TCR, etc. be a better bet?

Thanks for the help!

I have a SLR01, and have considered 'upgrading' a few times. At this point, I'm still not seeing significant performance advantages in regards to current offerings. The Team Machine is very light, and very comfortable. The changes between the 2011 and the newer iterations seem to be geared towards stiffening it up.

It's a solid frame, and I'd imagine it's going to be better than anything entry level from other manufacturers. I'd go with it over an entry level frame from someone else.
