Pro team Chainring Cover Up?
Moderator: robbosmans
just read this: http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/201 ... nics/cover
wouldn't the paint fall off over time? anyone done it here before?
i already have a set of Rotor QXL.. but the logo is distracting.. debating if this is the proper way to de-badge? or should i just use some acetone to remove the logo like how it's used on the Kalloy Uno stems?

They are anodised and laser etched, so no chance for acetone.

What about just painting the white logo black? Sharpie?
You'd be impressed with what a simple can of spray-paint will do.
A) Clean
B) If you wish, lightly sand the surface
C) Heat slightly with hair dryer
D) Krylon BBQ grill spraypaint
E) Cook in oven at 200*F for a half hour
This is VERY effective and stands up to a lot of use. Touch up is just a matter of reapplying steps A and D.
Works on bikes, guns, Jeeps, trailers....oh, and BBQ grills!
You could just hit it with paint. The Pros don't need to care.
If you want to learn more than you ever thought was out there about painting aluminum, google "ar-15 spray paint". Those boys are doing stuff to things that get a lot more handling than the side of a chainring. And are subject to a lot tougher solvents and lubes than your chain will likely see.

AJS914: yea i thought about that.. but with my drawing skills it'll probably look even worse.
BikeAnon: woo.. thanks! for that info. hopefully it doesn't leave the oven smelling like paint afterwards. wifey will probably kill me. not a big AR farn, more of single bolt action guy.. but i'll google it. thanks for the tip!!
just checked an neither lowes or HD has the Krylon. would this work? http://low.es/224OKBj

RussellS... fair enough.... I have not cooked ENTIRE Jeeps or trailers using this method!
But i have used this method for parts that go ON Jeeps and trailers.
