I'm on a wait list for a frameset. This will be a full tilt build. I'm definitely going sram. But I'm torn between mechanical and etap. I like etap for how clean the build will look but extra weight and having to charge more batteries is a drawback. I'm on 10 speed red mechanical and have had zero issues. I do work at a shop so I can get parts at a good price, so price isn't a driving factor.
It took a five minute ride around the block to get eTap down and now have it on three bikes.

Go for Etap and then buy a separate extra battery and have it charged. The RD will drain much faster as you shift much more on the rear.
I have mechanical on one bike which i never use. But i also had DA 9000 on my Vial EVO. Couldn't believe how crude it felt after using Di2 on my gravel bike, which i rode exclusively for two seasons. Since Etap upgrade kit is sold now for a great price, i decided to buy it for my Vial EVO.
It made biking on my Vial EVO so much more fun.
There is no way you will regret going Etap

I just went full etap because my lbs got a good end of season deal from sram. I figure sram is coming out with an update soon and is unloading (someone on the know in this forum said “wait till jan 2019”)

Very happy. Very light. I love the simplicity. I also lost over a lb vs my old ultregra d12, and i will loose another 140g when i swap in some older gen eebrakes.

I'd go etap if you can get a good deal. Seems like 12 speed should be coming soon...

What would be a "good deal" for a complete Etap groupset as of today? EU currency.
