Most brake seals suitable for Glycol based DOT type fluids are EPDM, however, use these types or seals with Mineral or Hydrocarbon based oils and they will absorb some of the oil, swell and soften over time. So the brake would probably seize up. Mineral oil works better with Nitrile seals but are not suitable for Glycol based DOT type fluids, for the same reasons it degrades the base material it can harden and breakdown. Not all Elastomers are the same and careful selection of the exact grade is required to ensure compatibility with the fluids it contacts and the pressures and temperatures it will see in service.

I regularly design seals at work for life saving equipment with service pressures of up to 5000psi for use with air, and at a temperaturerange of +100 to -50 degrees C and know what a minefield Elastomer grade selection can be.

You have left the dust cap and retaining nut on :D

Brings back memories of a mate bleeding his shimano brakes with the "brake fluid" he had on the shelf.
That was usually used in his Buells brakes.
Needless to say, his shimanos were written off after about a fortnight.

Ahh, the valve caps are an oversight that will be removed, the retaining nuts for the valve stems are required as they are set up tubeless.
