Hi,

I was looking yesterday at my mountain bike's xx1 cassette. What a nice piece of engineering!!
I said to myself "I need the same kind of cassette for my road bike also."
Considering that currently I have a Shimano RD mechanical with medium cage (11 - 32) cassette,
I want to ask you guys if you have tried to run this setup with a SRAM 11-32 cassette.
Also, any chain recommended for this setup?
(I fancy the KMC red-black chain, just because it looks very good :D )

Thanks

I've got that exact setup (Ultegra di2) and it works just fine. Using DA chain.

Works fine with 6800 and 6870 mid rear derailleurs. Much better options for the weenies in us.

Apparently the SRAM vs Shimano 11-speed cassettes have minor differences (0.02mm) in sprocket pitch. Good to know that these differences don't matter in practice.

EDCO cassette shifting is meh. Reportedly.

Edco shifting isn't great, but its usable. On shimano drivetrain (dura ace), dura ace cassette shifts the best, followed by SRAM followed by edco. But all 3 are fine for day to day use. I prefer the SRAM cassette. Lightweight and theoretically should last longer owing to the machined steel cogs (except for the largest one)

It's fine - my Alps setup is XG1190 11-32 + GS6800 mech + Red 22 chain.

I recently fitted an oversize pulley wheel cage to my RD so that I could use the 11-32 without switching to the Ultegra RD. See viewtopic.php?f=3&t=138134&start=15#p1230923

Slightly off the main topic, but has anyone tried an SRAM 11-30t cassette with an SS shimano rear mech (I have a Dura Ace 9070 mech)... ?
