BEST Carbon Disc Wheelset

Why hasn't there been any big name entities that have done a test on something thats become so ubiquitous?
Are there any carbon wheels that were specifically designed with disc brakes in mind or have they all just slapped some disc hubs on their already designed wheels?
Is Enve's design so good that they command $2k for a used set?
Vision Metrons...heard anything about them? they looked so promising, yet no one has ever talked about them. Did they forget to grease someones palms?
Were the new Zipp 303 77/177 disc wheels specifically designed with the disc brakes in mind?

Anyone care to share their thoughts?

Decent carbon disc wheels are not very common yet, none of the far east producers have bothered to do anything other than stick disc hubs on normal rims. The best bang for buck are the Mason Hunt Aero wheels, bit of a waiting list though.

I got a set of Roval 40's. Ride well and come with DT Swiss internals.

The rims in the Zipp and Enve disc offerings are both disc specific.

Kappius do rims too. Yishum dl a gravel rim thag would be good except for the lack of spoke nipple holes. Somehow they think everyone wants to guide thw nipples in with a magnet.

The thing is there are very good alloy disc brake rims and ryde have a very light one due soon.

I vote for my ENVE 3.4's with CX-Ray, I9 Straight Pull 2-1 Hubs and Carbon Ti Rotors!

I asked Zipp about their wheels and as i see it, they are same as the standard road versions.
But on the other hand, i looked for wheels more aimed at both road and gravel.
This is what Zipp had not! I wanted a wider rim (internally)

For a set that is actually made different from the "norm", you should take a look at No Tubes Avion Pro (or cheaper - Team).
I decided to check all wheels i could find, made for gravel and road.
What i like with Avion is the design ideal towards the rims absorbing vibrations/ road shock, + that they are semi aero at 40.6mm depth.
Also the tire bead (hooks) are completely different from standard clinchers (usually only converted for tubeless).
Avion works great with tubes (had that mounted first) but now i run them tubeless.

But bear in mind, Avion is made for wider tires. Minimum is 25mm.
The rims are very wide at 21.6mm internally (28mm externally).

Another cool contender is Alchemist Zirconium

But if you just look for road bike rims/ wheels, i don't think you need specific rims.
Ofcourse, you don't need a rim made for rim brakes.

I'm currently using the new Fulcrum Racing Quattro Carbon 6 bolt versions.

Bang for buck!

I've also used a set of 24mm carbon Curve Cycling rims on Tune King/Kong hubs with excellent results.

The new Enve disc rims are great, I think they are better than the previous 3.4 disc.

I also have 3 sets of HED Stinger 3 disc CX wheels. These have an increased strength rim bed and have a wider gluing surface, if that's what you're looking for. We use them for cyclocross, but they are great all around wheels and the HED hubs are nice. They are hard to beat for the money and come in a a good weight.
