Just spotted a 5.5kg c40 on gumtree. The frame weight looks incredible - is it possible...

It's not mine by the way, I don't know the seller - just intrigued in the provenance.. Google not turning anything up for me!

There's no way a C40 frame-set weights 870g!

I'm guessing more like at least 15-1600g ................?

I've got a c40 and it's not that light - just intrigued as it looks like a fabulous spec. Waiting for C40 Jim to share his wisdom....

His frame weight is way off. C40 frames were generally in the 1200-1300 gram range depending on the size. Forks were another 350 grams roughly.

110 gram carbon steering wheel! Are there even 110 gram bars? He's also saying that he has a 430 gram crankset (power unit titan).

He's arriving at the weight of the bike by adding up components. I bet he's forgotten a few. He seems to have missed cables, housing, and bottom bracket. I inadvertently made that mistake when I added up my bike piece by piece. Weighing the whole bike didn't even come close.

Aside the weight and the price, the bike looks good.

I have been riding my C40 last few weeks its a damn good ride ;)

I am also intrigued by the limited edition comment? Any insights out there....

Oh, and in the weight, one of the pictures does show something being weighed - can't see the whole bike though...

I think 5,5 kg is not the real weight: i had got a C40 with a similar/better setup and mine complete was 6,5 kg, frame was 1,3 kg in size 54 and fork was around 400 grams, the original 28.0 carbon seatpost is at least 210 grams.

I can't believe those frame and fork weights. My five C40s, all size 59, weigh between 1,300 and 1,524 grams. Star forks 442-460. My lightest C40 with lighter wheels than his is just about 7.5 kilos. I've never seen paint like that on a Star fork. In fact, I don't remember ever seeing a painted 1" Star, although I had a painted 1 1/8 on an one of my Extremes (can't remember which one). My Neutron wheels are 1,540 grams, not 1,380. I wonder what rekord dentures are? And those look like Record Delta brakes that weren't light either. So, is the vendor fibbing on the weight or is it even a C40?

Paint looks like it could be Colnago so maybe it's real. If I lived there, I might look at it but the price seems high. C40s with Record 10 on eBay seem to go for $2,500 or even less.

Painted 1'' Star forks are not so common but just existed (and in several color scheme), so this frameset could be easily a limited edition from year 2000 (frame and fork model would be correct, Bstays and HPs just came from 2001 to 2003) having those colors inside fork blades and that unusual italian flag on top of seat tube.
About claimed weights from seller they are totally wrong and false, Colnago never did so light stuff!
