Hi,

I currently have a Canyon road bike with Acros Ai-70 headset. Although it works fine, the headset adds a lot of stack to the setup. I want to replace it for a 'conventional' headset assembly. Canyon offers a kit, but it has been unavailable for months. So, I am now looking of buying the parts myself.

Does anyone have experience with this? If I am correct I would need two parts:

- Headset bearing cover e.g. http://www.avt.bike/WebStore/merchant.m ... TS-14BCAPS
- Compression plug e.g. http://avt.bike/WebStore/merchant.mvc?S ... 305-HD5347

It's rather difficult to find these parts for 1 1/4 fork tubes, especially the bearing cover. I am also worried if the bearing cover would fit properly. Canyon sells a cover from Acros, but this does not seem available at the Acros site.

Thanks for the help!

I'm assuming its a recent bike and has tapered headset. Your typical headset setup is like the image im including. This one is missing some sealing shims.

Contact Canyon and they can help you out with the correct parts.

I recommend you using cane creek headset fit finder

It suggests IS47/31.8 UPPER , IS52/40 LOWER

How do you think? I think this headset+conventional compression plug is better than Acros headset.

Really sorry about that.. Cane creek recommends IS47/31.8 Upper set but they don't sell it....

Have you ever tried the giant OD2 headset & Compression plug??

Ritchey make 1.25" stems so I would assume they also make 1.25" headsets.

Bump. Is anyone able to confirm what's what?

I currently have an Acros headset and would like to remove it and replace it with a conventional looking headset cover and compression wedge. Does anyone have a link to a headset top cover that works well with the Canyon (i.e. it's 1&1/4" and the OD is the same as the headtube)? Thanks

Not sure about matching the head-tube but the 2016 Scott Foil uses an 1 1/4" stem so a Ritchey or Syncros headset should be available.
The spec sheets list a Syncros integrated headset,

http://www.syncros.com/us/en/products/2 ... 40-Headset

but any IS headset of the following spec will work, top bearing set IS46/31.8, lower bearing set IS52/40

or check the spec with Acros, they do other headsets with a more conventional top bearing cap and carbon steerer expanding star nut and top cap.

motorapido mentioned:
"any IS headset of the following spec will work, top bearing set IS46/31.8, lower bearing set IS52/40"

However, the before mentioned spec is IS47/31.8 upper... I don't know if the difference between IS46 and IS47 would make it incompatible...

Did you get anywhere with this, looking for a headset for a Giant.
