I saw in the new VeloNews that Calfee is now the US importer for Ax-lightness. Given their track record (or impression of their track record from people in this site) how can they import stuff when their entire catalogue seems to be back ordered? Thoughts?

I've posted replies about Ax-lightness on other threads, but it never ceases to amaze me how people are willing to accept crappy service, jacked up prices and backed up orders just to say they have the latest carbon concoctions. God bless you cats-you have more patience than I do.

AX @ Calfee? seems fitting given that if you read the calfee forums folks are waiting 12+ weeks for a stock Calfee frame.

J-nice, that was kinda my point. I've read what you and others have said abut ax-lightness, and my question was why would a company 1) like calfee (which apparently has its own distribution problems) associate itself with this poor service, and 2) why would ax-lightness agree to be "imported" when they are obviously already in over their heads anyway?

I look at it as being like a top end car (say a Ferrari). If you want one, typically you have to wait. It's part of the exclusivity of it, which doesn't mean it's a good thing, it just is what it is. It's up to the consumer, you can place something on order knowing that you may have a wait, or you can buy something else now. The choice is up to the individual who wants the item.

Personally, I am willing to wait for a set of AX-Lightness brake calipers, knowing it may be many months and in the meantime use something else knowing that my bike is awaiting some icing on the cake. But that's my choice as a consumer, just as it may be the opposite for someone else, neither is wrong, it's just their choice.

I think Calfee may also be getting some preference on the limited output. I ordered an Apollo through calfee almost before the deal was announced and it took only about a month to get. Wound up selling the saddle since the shape didn't suit me and the 85kg model (which is all they sell in the US) was just not as comfortable as the SL ones.
