Giant seat post help
Moderator: robbosmans
Can anyone help with tips to "unstuck" a Giant seat post? I bought a TCR Advanced months ago and need to make some adjustments to the saddle height but I'm so far unable to move the post up or down. The wedge that holds the post in place is stuck in place. I've removed the bolt but not able to get the wedge up to move the post. Tips? I'll take it into the shop if I'm not able to figure it out but hoping to avoid the trip. Thanks!
Put the bolt back in.
Tighten it to hand-tight.
Back it off three turns.
Insert a straight hex key (or T handle"
Hit key with hammer lightly.

WAIT... I may be thinking of a different type of clamp.
I was thinking of this type:

Is it this clamp? The lower bolt shown on right?

A proper cyclist does not have the upper body strength required to maintain bicycles.

Nah, I'm pretty sure he's talking about the recessed wedge you showed before. He said Advanced, not Advanced SL. Plus there's no way the mast topper is getting stuck, while the wedges do it all the time.

Yes - it looks like that. I don't have the integrated seat post. I'll take a pic of mine in the morning and post. Thanks for the help!
Had the same issue with mine, I rocked the post back and forwards slightly whilst pulling with quite a bit of force until it suddenly gave. The previous post regards undoing slightly and giving a gentle tap makes sense, I'll try that next time.

Were you able to resolve the issue with the post. I'm having the same issue with mine. If so...what did you end up doing?
Also....can I ask a question about the wedge and post interface.
So...when the bike shop adjusted seat post and tighten the wedge bolt...the mechanic tightened the bolt until he heard a couple of clicking noises. Is that normal? Did you hear the same?
The reason I ask....is that I have been hearing some creaking from either saddle or post. I can't figure out which one. So I want to remove seat post to inspect for cracks but I am having trouble removing the seat post.
Thanks,
Joel
