Hi there guys, I'm looking to buy some new shoes, and these three made it to the short list.
Although Lake, Bont or Gaerne may be good I'm not into the style.
So what do you think is a better overall shoe?
I do love Rapha understated looks, but these new Fizik seem rather good looking and sidi are always a sure bet.
Thanks guys!

I love the Giro and Rapha shoes- have empire slx, prolight slx and rapha climbers.
The GT shoe is amazing but the full leather upper prevents it from being a good wet weather option. There is no Giro equivalent to the GT- the Rapha Climbers are very similar to the prolights but the GT's are out on their own.
Only issue with Rapha shoes is the general hubbard-ness that comes with anything Rapha these days which is such a shame considering their products are so good.

True that Rapha has been getting some bad vibes/ hate these days, but I do love the look of the GT shoe.
On the other hand Sidi does fit good, as I have some MTB sidis but these new fizik also look good and have boa which is a big plus.
Don't the white sidi air vernice tend to get yellow?
The biggest issue I have with sidi is getting a premium priced shoe with a look similar to every one of the other sidis.
How about microtex from fizik? does it hang on nicely the test of time?
(question to white bar tape owners probably)

Those Rapha / Giro shoes are Fugly and had a bad fit.
Sidi is probably the best quality if they fit your feet.
I have had some suggestions that Giro and the new line of Fizik is very close fit?
Talking these two

I guess the shoes fit is same same from road to mtb!?
Personally, i like Giro 46½ size in both Factor and VR-90.
Tried Mavics versions, standard and Maxi fit in 46, 46½ and 47.
But none of them fitted as good as Giro at my feets.
Maxi fit became too wide all over in correct length (especially the heel), and the standard was too narrow and put pressure at the metatarsal point and over the big toe. I have Mavic

Also tested 3 sizes at trainer, about 5 minutes per size.
So i took the size which felt fine at the trainer. But when i was actually riding, the effect comes which prove they're too small/ tight. It became worse and worse the longer i rode (doh, no shit!)
When i actually came home, i could hardly walk for several hours due to pain in both feets.
This is not a matter of "give", that would eventually come. The shoes are made to keep the shape.
In other words, it won't change for the better!
Took shoes to a shoe maker to see if he could rework them. But he says, they are so reinforced that it is impossible.
His machine will brake. Also, the shoes would be damaged!
Also tested Mavics lower heel road shoes and mtb shoes.
A pity, otherwise very nice shoes!

The new Fizik R1B is a nice shoe. I have them and also Sidi Wires. Fizik sizing is larger ( I wear 42 in fizik, size 43 in sidi). The R1B has a more modern look, wraps well around the foot, and is very comfortable. The Sidi's have a stiffer, more supportive upper of thicker material (and heavier). Both great shoes.
As for the white Vernice turning yellow, I've been using white vernice since they were introduced (first ergo, then wire) and the vernice never turned yellow, it stayed nice and white. However, the plastic heal is what turns yellowish.

Great info fignonsbarber, that's the kind of info I was looking for!
I like the fact that the fiziks are new and rather rare (yet), but which would you consider to be the best overall shoe between the two?
If you were going to buy or wear just one of the two, which one you'd choose?
thanks!

Just bought a new pair of sidi wires, I had them 3 years ago, since then I've tried bont vaypor S, giro prolight SLX II, and giro empire. None of them is near the same quality, same feel. Besides the sidi's have a perfect fit, for me at least.
Would go for sidi!
