Hello,
I just got a used canyon aeroad and found something weird. I just feedback to the seller and he said the differences are due to the years. Need canyon owner's help to see if the frame is fake or not:

1. The headset is made by metal, and doesn't look the same as other's.
Image

2. The font of printing is not the same as what I found on internet.
Image

3. No holes inside the forks, and I can see the holes on other's.

Did I get a fake frame?

Fakes don't have serial number or they place a cheap looking sticker to pass as a serial number. Your best bet is to get the serial number (if it has one) and verify with manufacturer.

Never seen a fake Aeroad but that does look concerning.

Edit: Now I've looked there does seem to be some available at the usual places, definitely concerning.

Need more pics, full sized of just your frame. I have an Aeroad here I can compare them to. Haven't seen a fake yet, but that's not to say they haven't started doing them.

There is plenty of fake Canyon aeroad. They have been around for atleast a year now.
Some fakes are pretty bad and can be spotted easy as they use cable end plugs similar to the cervelo. Some that I've seen looks identical, you can check the fork to see if has the flip-able drop out. You can find fakes in aliexpress and dhgate, often can't find using keywords but have to scan the sections on carbon frames. Taobao has the best looking fakes.

FYI, yours is probably fake.
Get your money back ASAP, then call the cops on him.
A reputable company will never get their own fonts incorrect, and the handlebar and cap looks wrong.

I would think the lack of the 2d barcode on the fork would be the giveaway. The kerning on the fork logo is concerning as is the finish on the stem spacer.

Clearance between rear tire and frame is not uniform.

Download a barcode app on your phone and ready the 2d barcode. Maybe that wil have a clue. Also, remove the crank and have a look inside the BB to see the layup

+1 for the bar code scan and sending the serial into Canyon to check - but a full photo of the whole bike might also help :)

You didn't say where you got it from. eBay is flooded with knockoffs.

Looks like a fake and not a particularly good one. Check out the nastiness around the rear shift cable exit.
