Calnago wrote:Don't feel silly at all. At this point whenever someone is talking about Di2 not being able to engage the smallest two or three cogs when in the smallest chainring, they are talking about synchroshift, period.
Except that the poster of that information has confirmed that, as far as he was aware, he was not talking about Synchro shift but normal operation.
The question is, do you trust that information? I don't, because it's second hand hearsay from a random shop guy who may or may not have any direct familiarity with the system. Apparently you are for some reason treating it as absolutely solid information without checking any other sources for confirmation - which really should be making you feel at least a bit silly.

auto-trimming on Di2 9070 and 6870 (2014) :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fAzKHUyNXchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfiAE2dybtIpreventing shifting into bad chainring combination:
mtb rd di2 specs - note "The Di2 system limits cross chain to prevent a chain from getting loose."
road rd di2 specs - nothing yet about cross limits... may be later?
synchro shift availability and di2 updates:
v3.2.0 alows you to set up and customize Road Synchronized Shift on R9150 systems, which are being delivered to OE assembly factories this month.
As with v 3.1, we advise you do a "clean" installation of this version. Manually uninstall the old version, and manually install v 3.2 which you can download from e-tubeproject.shimano.com
Road Synchronized Shift for 6870 and 9070-equipped bikes is expected with an upcoming version 3.2.x. The Road Synchro portion of the app will not work if you connect to a 6870/9070 bike for now, and you'll see this message:

Is the shift map customizable on R9100 synchro? Can you specify custom tooth counts on the chainrings and cassette? I want to run an 11-40 in the back and wide range 34/53 in the front, and the only way I could get the road setup to run this is by avoiding cross chaining on the 34.

Customizable, yes !
40-11=29 ! max 21...
53-34=19 ! max 16...
You must go to 11-30 (11-32 is ok with 2 pins more on chain) max and 39/53 or 36/52 or 34/50...
As much to take a triple...

Can anyone compare the shape and feel of the 9150 STI levers and hoods compared to 9070? The 9150 hoods look to be a little bigger than 9070 in terms of girth so just looking for some feedback.
Also, are the 9150 hoods a little firmer feeling than 9070? I found 9070 hoods to somewhat swim around on the hood body because the rubber was softer and thinner than 6870. Wondering how 9150 are.
Cheers,
Geoff

idinfo68, front and rear spec limits are lowered by marketing department, the only official limit we need to care about is total capacity.
tilf, you can setup synchro map with one cassette and use it with another cassette,
RD doesn't care about tooths on cassette, and you can use excel instead of shimano app to calculate ratios
RD-R9150 total capacity 35T
RD-R9100 total capacity 35T
front tooth difference calculation using official total capacity limit with 40-11 casette: 35-(40-11)=6
real total capacity is usually official+2 or official+3, so you can add it
this give you 8 or 9 front tooth difference if you use traditionally calculated chain length
this is before you take into calculation di2 possibility to limit cross chainring (small-small)
it is not clear if cross chainring limit will be possible on road di2 (it is only on mtb di2 right now)
if cross limit can be enabled, then you can run longer chain and this gives you +2 or +4 capacity, may be more?

You seem to mix how to calculate capacity. It is (53-39) + (30-11) = 33
I have 9150 installed already and yes it doesn't allow riding 39-11 or 39-12
Lot of misinformation in ooo's post.

TurboKoo, can you give example of wrong number in my post?
I use the same formula as in you:
(front tooth difference)=(total capacity)-(cassette tooth difference) -- in my post
(front tooth difference)+(cassette tooth difference)=(total capacity) -- in your post
mixing 11-40 with R9100/R9150 (using official capacity number 35T) possible to use front chainrings with tooth difference=6
mixing 11-40 with R9100/R9150 (using unofficial capacity number 37T) possible to use front chainrings with tooth difference=8
mixing 11-40 with R9100/R9150 (using unofficial capacity number 38T) possible to use front chainrings with tooth difference=9

....
This is the good calculate ! Thanks...
So we have (53-34) + (40-11) = 48 ! The max is 35...
For good front shifting, max difference is 16 (50-34=16 or 52-36=16)

Starbike says they have availability on 9150 (confirmed in email). I placed an order, let's see how that goes.
I already have brakes and the new battery model. Still need an EW-RS910 though.
Can anyone confirm if the 9100 crankset is compatible with third-party 9000 power meter spiders, e.g. Quarq DFour?
