I've read this too in a Belgium magazine. Article was about a factory visit @ Shimano. Article also said that Shimano will anounce something new around the TDF
that would, be some visits for journalists

Direct mount is really cool and make changing wheels much easier. That would be a really nice option. Can't wait to see more of this especially what they will do with the dics brakes.

I wonder why there's no chain?
So far we have:
New RD mounting standard (probably carryover from the MTB side)
DA-level disc brakes
Wired
11 speed
Shimano branded powermeter
Cassette and crankset seem relatively unchanged other than the powermeter option

Does anybody have a guess for the release date? Announcing it during the TdF makes sense (shipping during fall), but I was hoping to get my hands on this earlier.

Love the glossy black, interesting to see how it holds up to dirt.
Disappointed it's not wireless and don't buy that it's "not wanted".

Hard to tell, but it's definitely an electrical wire going into the rear mech.

direct mount looks good for disc brake & faster wheel changes.
is DRD/direct mount just a different hanger? Eg If you have a current / standard hanger you can just replace the hanger (if the manufacturer provides DRD) or is it a need new frame thing?

Just a new hanger and it's generally backwards compatible. I don't really know of too many manufacturers that bother though since SRAM doesn't support it.

Could be a dummy wire. Early SRAM eTap spy shots also had a fake wire. I have it on good authority that there will be new mechanical and electronic Dura Ace groupsets this summer with the possibility of wireless, which has been in development for a while now.
