Anyone experienced side to side bearing play in front Meilenstein? Has under 1000 miles.

I think it's totally normal for a set of Lightweights to have a play in the front hub because of the construction of their in-house made front hubs. Maybe you should not base on my story, but I have a set of the gen 2 standards and they have some play in the front as well. I hope someone can confirm it's normal.

I've had a few sets of LWs over the yrs and never had this issue before. It is enough play that, if adjustment was possible, I would dial it out. Thx again.

I had that happen on a set of LWs. Nothing that a bearing swap wouldn't cure...

The wheels shouldn't have any play in them, both front and rear.
If the wheels are still under warranty, send it to LW to get it fixed.

I agree there should be zero play. As I
mentioned, I've owned 3 other sets and never had an issue til now. I currently not have a Gipfelsturm/Meilenstein mix and no play in either. I just purchased a front Meilenstein recently and it's the 1 w/play.

How much play? Does it go away if you apply a small amount of downward pressure on the bars?

I've have CK hubs for years with now 50k km and to get butter smooth results and no binding I may have a slight amount of play ( rear wheel) but with a light downward pressure on the saddle the play goes away.

Uh...w/the greatest respect, that's not the sort of "bearing preload" I need:-) Rider added or excessive QR tension are not remedies for sloppy bearings. Especially considering the cost of a Meilenstein. I have contacted LW but haven't received a response yet.

When I purchased a used pair of LW they had some bearing play in both front and rear; after swapping them out with new bearings everything was fine.

Thx Micky. What bearing press tool did you use?

DT Swiss bearing tool kit for the rear. The front is some special bearing set LW make. No idea even how to get into it.

Thx. My issue is w/the front. The bearing is 609RS but w/22mm OD which is a somewhat strange size.
