Must have:

- Short reach/drop. Like 75/125 or so
- 40cm
- flat-ish top. Doesn't need to be considered an "aero" bar
- 31.8

Nice to have:
- no "ergo bend”

This is for a spare-bike build. No weight-weenie needed. Can be aluminum or carbon. Can be China no-name, or found used on eBay.

Looking to spend under $50USD.

Thanks!

This is just like the 3T Ergonova so many not what you are looking for. It's an amazing bar for no money at all

I will sale mine shortly as I am parting out the bike that has the bar on it (sorry about the plug) and at that price not even sure anybody would by used.

CBJ, that's pretty nice, and I like the idea of the flare in the drops.

You're making me rethink my need for a flat top.

You could consider Deda RHM02. I have one and like it.

I have this on my spare bike:
http://ritcheylogic.com/road/bars/comp- ... d-bar.html

It's a very good bar for the money. Short / shallow, quite light and cheap! The only missing thing is the flat top.

You may want to take look at the evomax too,if you don't mind the large flare, it has a flat top:

I can wholeheartedly recommend everything from Ritchey. Their components never disappoint.

FSA Vero or Omega for round top, Energy for oval top. Nice outward flare on the drops.

Zipp Service Course 70 is 70/128, and has a variant with a flat top. The flat variant is named ergo, even though both versions has ergo bend, but IMO it's an ergo bend does right: I'm really enjoying it, and consider it one of the best shaped bars I've ever used.

Price is $55 for the 300g version, and $110 for the 250g version.

Thanks for all the help.

Looks like the answer (at least for now) is going to be an FSA Energy compact.

Maybe it isn't going to be something I'm thrilled with, but I threw a low bid on one on eBay, and I was the only bidder when the auction ended. It wasn't a steal of a deal, but it seems like it will be a very serviceable bar for a reasonable price.

My pick is the williams cycling Maxim ACS bar. Nice transition to hoods also. 75 reach, 123mm drop. My 40cm came in around 230g range. $69.

+1 on the Williams bar. I used one for a long time and loved it. I only took it off to go narrower, and unfortunately they don't make it in a 38. Trying the Zipp 80 now, but the 70 may be the ticket.
