Hello
I am keen to know the differences inside of the RD 6870 / RD 6770.
reason being, I am interested in purchasing this. But the product listing of this states it's only compatible with RD 9000/9070/6800/6870

Does anybody know if this would fit the RD 6770?!

For sure they are not compatible 9000/9070/6800 that you listed. Both 6870 and 6770 RDs are DI2 units.

In addition, RD 6770 can only work with a 10-speed Di2 FD only. RD 6870 can only work with 6870 FD, or 9070 FD, both of which are 11-speed.

You guys missed the question. He wants to know if a 6800 series cage will fit on a 6700 series derailleur, not what the basic differences are between the ranges. I know that for previous generations it didn't matter, I put a 7800DA cage on a 6770 derailleur after a crash no problem. So electronic/mechanical, no difference, and generation to generation, no difference, at least back to 7800.

I would only be guessing as to whether you can mix a 9000/6800 series cage with 6700 series derailleurs, but if I were a betting man I'd bet you could.

Did you check the exploded view docs from Shimano? Here are the links:6770 EV and 6870 EV

There are some subtle shaping differences in the exploded views but I'd doubt that they'd matter. Fiber Lyte lists same cage plates for 6700/6800, so I think it works.
