Im on the cusp of purchasing a Shimano RS80 C24 wheelset. I know these will be a huge upgrade to my current R500 entry level wheels that came with my Cervelo S2. I was wondering if i should be looking for RS81s instead. I havent found comparisons online, i was wondering what some of your opinions were. Thanks in advance.

Same basic wheel except the RS80's only have a 10 speed freehub, the newer RS81's will run an 11 speed cassette. If you have, or ever think you want 11 speed then get the RS81's. For what its worth they are a great wheelset for the money. I love mine.

these rims are too narrow(21mm) in 2016.. low spoke count front wheel. very flexy.

same money go with boyd/november cycles aluminum clincher set..

Lol wut?

Have you ridden these wheels? They're plenty stiff. They're also very economical. I've got 15,000km's on mine and there's plenty of life left in them.

guess depends on your body weight. i owned a pair of rs81 ..18 spokes for the front was flexy vs my pair of hed ardennes.
the wide rim adds to the stiffness.

btw heard shimano will be introducing new generation of wide rimmed wheelsets this summer..
