Hey guys!

I've just built up a Cervélo S5 for road racing and crits, but I haven't yet found any good wheels for it.

In history I've tried Zipp 404 and found them good, but the recent increase in weight (up to 1505 for tubulars) kind of put me off. I'm looking for something light and (preferably) very aero.

I'm of course looking for something to complement my bike in good matters, and I'd like to have a wheel set that weigh in at under 1.400 grams to keep my bike weight competitive.

I get good deals on Zipp, Enve, Shimano and Corima wheels (and perhaps even Campagnolo) and all of those are within my budget of €1600.

What should I chose?

Enve 4.5 for that Dimension Data look. 6.7 if you can deal with crosswinds well. The Easton EC90 aero 55 has intrigued me, and seems like a good choice if you can get a good deal. People love the hubs on Shimanos and Campy wheels too, but I doubt they are quite as aero as Enve or Zipp. If you've got the new S5 you've gotta go for aero over everything.

Bora Ultra 50's are the answer, 1.265 g for tubulars and 1.485 g for clinchers!

You probably don't want Chinese but as an example of whats available I just got a 38/50 clincher wheelset that should be 1340g with Edhubs for $625. If I'd sprung for Extralite hubs it'd be 1260g and $1150.

I'm actually quite interested in them. Brake tracks seem to be untreated carbon, though? Would that make them more prone to fast wear and tear?

Did quite extensive research on them, but found quite scarce information - especially about the Corima brake pads and how they perform in wet. Do you have any knowledge about that?

The wind should be a real bad ass before you get into trouble with ENVE SES 6.7.

Corima pads are not great on wet although their new pads might be better.
OTOH Corima pads have the best modulation and will not harm or overheat your rims.

IMO Corima (and Campagnolo) are the best wheels at their price. Made in France is a big plus as well.

You can't beat Hed Jet 6+. Best aero out there and while it isn't the lightest, it's probably the fastest. But it's probably a wash aero-wise with the Enve 6.7 and the Zipp 404 FC. The Hed has the alloy brake track though which is always good. I'm not a huge fan of carbon braking.

bora 50 ultra 2 - great wheels and second hand tend to be a good price. only 1250 g.

on the other hand i have always wanted to try the corima s+ as word is they are crazy fast.

i am using 80 mm bora right now, these seem very aero to me. and look awesome in dark label.
