Anyone here who knows if there is any new crankset ongoing or about to be released?

Preferably in aluminium (BB386 (EVO), around 400-430 grams complete (cranks, spindle and spider) without chainrings and BB?

Red hollow carbon is at 400g, I wouldn't want to ride an alu crank at that weight.

Extralite QRC2 are 479g (inc BB) in BB386 Evo, doubt you could make alu crank much lighter than that.

Agree with Marin that I don't think it's possible to safely hit that weight with an aluminum crank. The Extralite at 460 grams (arms, spider, spindle) is about as light as an alloy crank gets. Having said that I do know of a new crank which looks likely to be released sometime this year, in very limited numbers. It will be in that weight range, though it's not aluminum. Early testing is quite promising though it will be on the more expensive side of cranks.

madcow, do you think it's going to be better than a Red in any way?

Did an extralite order today. The cranks are discontinued.

Not to say too much here, but as i understood, something new has been in the works.
Maybe it's getting very near if that older design has been discontinued?

OMC looks nice, but i would probably like something with more options for chainrings and a bit of heel clearance.

Madcow might come up with one option, i have a guess what he talks of,.. it may be Craigs brainchild.

I would love a hollow core construction over the more "open" design crank arms.

For my purpose of riding, this would be fitted to a road, gravel and trail bike.
Not sure i would like a carbon crank for this bike, or yes, i am sure...

Indeed, I also know of this and something else a certain Craig also knows about.

Stop fishing Rickard! It's an addiction and it's not good for you!

It's going to be a lot of research and it might not work but

Cannondale with Next Sl spindle or possible Stages spindles ( there are no facts about the Stages spindles fitting cannonade but all the pix look the same)... but the people have tested the Next Sl spindle with Cannonade crank.

I would also guess that now that Raceface owns Easton there is a good chance we will see a road Next Sl... not that it needs to be road specific, we just need spindle that fit..

PS I gave up on that dream and went with the Campy over-torque I think it's the best 386 crank considering all the factors but price... (and with price you have to consider the tools) it's just plan expensive ... I had to save to get it...

I would just get a Clavicula SE, a carbon crank will be just as durable as a al crank, if you have a surface strike with the crank it's usually the pedal that cops it.

Haha.... yes i know it's curiosity driven, some components just has appeal more than others.
I kind of like cranks and saddles.

THM in all honor, but it looks a bit to delicate for anything but a road bike.

I also like the Campa overtorque, especially the axle design.
However, it feels like blasphemy mixing Campa with Shimano.

I guess Craigs crank would be a welded version and not CNC-milled?
