Hi all.

Just wonder if you think this is an actual crack or simply a manufacturing relic etc in my new fork. It is above the brake hole, directly below the crown. My nail does catch in it. I think it's just in the paint...?

Ha - I was expecting that. Yeah it's super small. But I can see it on the pic.

I can see the small curved "crack". The paint cracks I've seen were generally hairline cracks ( at the beginning anyways) and do not catch your nail. Still, the only way you can be sure is it to use something like an XRay. Or to be safe, you can take it to a carbon repair shop to get the paint stripped, and patched.

However, if this is a new fork, why bother? I would say get it replaced if you can. If you can't. A fork is generally is not the most expensive component in your system. I would still get a new one.

In my case... On my front brake the pain was cracked from original installation. After a few thousand miles the small paint crack chipped, I filled it with some matching auto touch up paint, good to go. My result may not be the same as yours, get it checked out.
