Hi, I've tried Googling this and also searching within WW and am unable to find a total groupset weight for DA 9070 vs 9000. I'm guessing 9000 is lighter as Cannondale's Black Inc includes this groupset- but does anyone know the actual gram difference?

Thanks

''The Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 9070 electronic groupset with internal battery weighs 2047 grams; the Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 mechanical groupset weighs 2074 grams (27 grams more than Di2.)''

Thanks. Strange- when I was just googling 9070 vs 9000 weight I was striking out.

I hadn't seen the numbers in some time. Was surprised how little the weight penalty is.

Yes, it was those figures that prompted me to go electronic.

It's difficult for me to believe that the mechanical can be heavier than the electronic. The front and rear DI2 derailleurs cant possibly be lighter than their mechanical counterparts; then you have the battery and junction box.

Where is this weight being saved? Shifters? Is the difference so great that it makes up for the battery and motors of the other components?

I couldn't agree more. The weights on that chart seem suspect.

Shifters are way lighter, electric wire is much lighter than shift cable and housing. I haven't done the math's ,but for me, the chart makes sense. Take a look at the real weights in my Scott topic. Feel free to compare that to real weights of a mechanical groupset...

Carltonbale is wrong. The weights on the other link are correct. There was some sort of a typo when Shimano originally released 9070 weights, since corrected. Fairwheel has actually weighed the parts, its on Bikerumor.

He didn't include cable weights under the assumption that they negate each other. That is an incorrect assumption.

Dura Ace 9000 - 1.998 g

Ultegra 6870 Di - 2.407 g
Ultegra 6800 - 2.294 g
