Seems a little odd that the factory would paint one of the old frames in WC colours. I do know that Maestro were able to get frames painted by the Benelux distributor a while back

At the time Maestro would paint every paintscheme wanted by the customer (and at a way better quality than colnago did) best thing way the colnago guarantee stayed intact. Had my C40 done in the saronni style and they did a perfect job (whereas Colnago never seemed able to get the red colour right going from red-brown tot red-purple)

Totally agree, Maestro paint jobs were amazing. I still see some amazing C40, C50 colour schemes in the UK and you know they were carried out by Maestro. As I understand the painter took retirement and that was that. There was only 1 guy who carried out paint jobs from Benelux for Maestro.

Sad day when he retired.

Here is my Colnago C40 Mapei World Champion Mk1 pre B stay. It was NOS and painted at the Colnago factory
