Where to save weight on my EVO

Hi!

I've just bought an EVO 2015, and it needs to go on a diet. But where should I start?

Frame: SuperSix EVO, BallisTec Carbon, SPEED SAVE, PressFit BB30
Fork: SuperSix EVO, BallisTec Carbon, SPEED SAVE, 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" steerer
Front Derailleur:Shimano Ultegra 6800, braze-on
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Ultegra 6800
Shifters: Shimano Ultegra 6800
Chainset: Cannondale HollowGram Si, BB30, FSA Chainrings, 52/36
Bottom Bracket: Cannondale Alloy PressFit30
Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 6800, 11-28, 11-speed
Chain: Shimano HG700, 11-speed
Pedals: Speedplay Zero, Stainless

So, where should I start? It feels really heavy now.

For small components the handlebars and saddle jump out. You could drop 1/2 lb there without going crazy on money.

The CX is 205g and R1 145g. Expensive grams :)

Is this a non Hi-mod version?
What is its size and actual weight right now?

Usual porky OEM items already mentioned- seatpost, seat, bars, wheels + ??tyres??

Then what have you added? Garmin? bottle cages? all starts to add up....

Only if you stay with Fizik. Pretty much every other saddle out there is way cheaper for the weight.

(And the CX Kium is 205, the CX mg is 245. :wink: )

I took a 2015 Felt AR5 and replaced the stock wheels with Reynolds RFours 1570g, Specialized S-Works Aerofly Handlebars 250g, Kalloy 110mm stem 110g Specialized S-Works Turbo tires 210g per tire and replaced the 105 group with Dura Ace.I would go with replacing the seat and seat post, wheels, tires, stem, handlebar, brakes, I don't know what your budget is, but mine was 4500. I could've brought a AR3 for about the same as my budget but have not much for upgrades. AR3 17.9lbs AR5 17.6lbs my AR5 16.3lbs. For 2016 new EE Works brakes and lighter cables and a carbon S-Works saddle should get me to 15lbs. Paid $2300 for the bike and $2000 for parts

You could switch to a low profile and lower weight wheel. This is where you'll notice(feel) the greatest impact. Otherwise it's just a weight weenie exercise. If you are after that and you like Shimano, why not switch to Dura Ace? You won't ride faster, but the bike will weigh a half pound less.

It is the non- Hi-mod in size 56. I'm not sure about the weight, I only have a bathroom scale which is far from optimal for this purpose. I would guess it is around 8kg right now.

I've added a Garmin mount and 1 Elite bottle cage. The original wheels were Aksium S which were replaced straight away, and the Zonda's fitted my budget for the moment.

The Zipp stem replaced the C-Dale C2 purely based on looks.
I will most likely change the bars to Zipp SLC2 or SL-70 Aero and brakes to DA.

Shimano or Sram doesn't really matter for me, but Red 22 would be very nice and the bike would loose around 600g.

You'll save more weight with sram red, but my own view is that Dura Ace is more reliable and better made.

I recently got a Hi-Mod 2015 with SRAM Red that came with heavy Cannondale handlebars. Although I live in a hilly area and use the bike to compete in hillclimb races I am loath to change them as I love the shape and feel of them. Have to say, Red feels much nicer and snappier than 105 which is what I was used to. Haven't tired Ultegra or Dura Ace.

Then you probably got the C1 bars, which are lightweight alloys which I would are much lighter then C2 at least. I really like the shape of the C2, but they flex way too much.

I've been on one version or other of Ultegra for the past 15 years. While 6800 is the best of the bunch, I just upgraded to Dura Ace for all cpt's with the exception of bottom bracket, rear cassette and chain. Ignoring looks and weight, I can't feel much difference in braking but shift performance is much better.
(Everything I've been on is mechanical including the 9000)
