Hi guys,

how many of you would have an interest of a really light weight über mechanical groupset?

Oozing luxury in detail, butter smooth shifting, easy precise tuning, clockwork shift precision, high end craftmanship and materials?

(Please don't refer to Campa SR now!)
Bikes:

Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)

Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

Why are you asking this?
Maybe you need to consider other important things like: Price, support, availability, distribution, etc

aNyone on here would be interested, but you'd have to persuade people that you were offering a superior product to what is out there already before anyone will part with their hard-earned.....

Keep us informed of progress ......

I'd buy it 2nd hand or the trickle-down cheapo version, as I'm doing now.

I really hope mechanical sticks around, I like my bikes electronics-free.

At least is seems road disc is dead, CX disc is already bad enough.

Long as I can tune it and make it even lighter.

I think this description runs counter to a weight-optimized setup. Most of the super-tuned stuff in the "show me your tuning" thread looks ugly but is on the cutting edge of lightness. How could you have both without spending countless hours like these guys did: [LINK]

However, If you look at some of the lightweight skewers, seatpost clamps and brake calipers, I agree that the "stick-insect" nature of them could be copied/incorporated into a groupset a little more.

Agreed! Imagine a monocoque/bionic full carbon derailleur / shifter / brake set!

This would be a niche product ofcourse!

It would never be ment to be made as a trickled down groupset as it would have been made to be an all out exercise in precision, materials and weight.

Let's say it was made by Shimano, Sram or Campa (it doesn't matter).

It would be a luxury groupset made for die hard mechanical dudes who would have a mental booner

just fiddling with this.

It would be sold by selected dealers or from an online sight.

You could look at it like a fine automatic watch.

Downtube shifters and super minimal TT brake levers are about as light as you can get but, if someone were to magically combine them into some kind of drop-bar-clamping single system, despite probably being uncomfortable to hold, it would be enough to undercut all other systems by a large margin. Maybe that's a good place to start before going "all in" with the full groupset.

This is 18-19g for example (from "Show me your tuning")

In theory, pretty much everyone.

In practice, how much does it cost, how well does it work, how reliable is it and what does it look like?
