Tring to track down a clunk from the rear when I hit a bump.

Bike is a 2013 Giant TCR 2.
Recently replaced chain / cassette / rear derailleur.
Wheelset is Kinlin X31t with BHS SL210 rear / SLF71W front hub.

I can replicate the clunk tipping the bike to the left and tapping the rear wheel on the ground.

Hubs caps are tight, wheel isn't contacting the brake pad when tapping.

Any ideas? Sounds similar to a headset knocking around.

Cassette retaining ring still tight?

what type of bottom bracket/crankset?
Possibly side-to-side play at the BB spindle

Cassette is still tight. Shimano Tiagra Crank / PF BB.

Wife's wheel makes no noise. Takes a decent impact on the garage to get the knock... Looking like it's something in the hub.

possible (though unlikely) it's the valve stem tapping the rim

Valve stem might be it, wrap electric tape where it touches the rim?

I'll check that... Towed my daughter around before her birthday party today, no noise except for a small hole in the pavement at the joints.

It just happened to me today. It was driving me nuts. One of my bodies recommended jamming some klinex between the valve stem and the rim (what can I do? we were long way from civilization...) it stopped the knocking sound.

I just put some silicon instead of klinex when I got back home :-)
