I would love to see someone being as enthusiastic about setting out to make a super set of steel bearings.

I sent my dura ace bb to F1 for their bearing optimization coating treatment thing and I think now it meets the super set of steel bearings criteria. It's really nice.

SKF is probably one of the top brands when it comes to steel bearings. I also have XD-15 bearings pressed directly into my frame (Cervelo R5CA -- BBRight Direct Fit). I believe the same way they are on the AX Evo frames. No issues with the XD-15s.

You are correct, our frames are same same. What cranks are you using, how did you manage to keep 5-6nm bearing preload?

In theory the most extreme bearings avaible is UCB Nanotech.

Balls and races are extremer than Ceramic Speed. I mean Kanzen Tungstene has about same features as Ceramic Speeds coated bearings talking specs.

Kogel i realize does not come up to these standards.

Anyone here been doing a total change of bearings? Like: wheels bearings, pulley bearings and BB bearings?

Please define meaning of "extreme" as it applies to bearings.....

I have had good luck with hawk racing stainless. I don't do ceramic anymore. I'm here is Florida and get stuck in the rain all the time in the summer. Still going strong. Other bb just as good as the hawk is the campy cult.

Overkill grade of treatment and tolerances!

How do you back up the rest of the drivetrain with bearings like UCB Nanotech!?

By that definition every bearing beyond a standard steel one is "extreme" for that application.

You think so!?

Well, i am not sure,... but reading (only) about ceramic bearings actually make it seem it would be so to.

To me it seems UCB Nanotec is extreme. I wouldn't mind having a set as you see they are topping Ceramic Speed when it comes to it.

From a strict engineering knowledge point of view, I think so. Bearing friction has everything to do with seal friction and very little to do with the balls and surface treatment. But did that stop me from installing XD-15's on my rides? Nope......because I think they are "cool" ........... :D

goodboyr, i would some day like to test XD-15. But for now, we suffer psycho prices of these bearings in EU and they're not worth the cost.

I also would like to run a test, run a full set from BB and wheels to pulleys. I am currently discussing an eventual upgrade of my Aero 55 set.

Easton and Enduro has been sorting a bit out for me so far.

But i am not sure. As for now, it is just a check up.

The hick-up is 3645 as a coated ceramic bearing in a radial version.

Henry from Enduro is a nice helpful guy, so that actually make me feel more for Enduro as a company.

I value great guys in this business and i am happy to say, i have found a few of them.

So they nitride the races to make it hard and durable. Sounds good, but not $200 good. It's a cheap process.

Anyone try the Enduro XD-15 on their vial evo's? Very tempted to try them out.

Am concerned a little because the width of the bearing is a little wider because it has a built in seal? Would that make it too wide? Actually come to think of it, is anyone running additional seals or spacers on top of their factory vial evo bearings? I am using 24mm shimano adapters, but no seals behind it.

Try Kanzen Tungstene... real good value bearings.

They fit perfectly..
