WW competition thread?
Moderator: robbosmans
I'm amazed. No WW competition thread
What do you think of the competition?
Do you think the winners were worthy?
Are there any other bikes you thought should have won?
Maybe new category's ?
What's your views folks ?

Possibly a Vintage WW build thread and competition
Road and MTB Frames from the 90's and older. Lugged steel category.
Might be more interesting ?

I would like to have seen a category for bikes that have tuned parts and custom/home made parts rather than bought WW bike's with standard parts. Originality and creativity.
We need real inspiration to keep the tunings and ideas flowing, for me this is a big part of what the site is/should be about.
It would be great to see some older/ vintage bikes.
Some of the bikes in the gallery I have seen for the first time. There are some great bikes on show.

i think the neat thing is a highly tuned/customised bike did win. and a very weight weenie one at that. great story on that build and so i wonder how much that contributed.
i hope starbike got something out of it so it can happen again.
i also thought that the scott addict at like 4.5 kg would do better and that was really a highly tuned and skillful effort from the builder.

Bobo S&S Steel Bike - 7.5 kg
Oltre XR2- 6.6 kg
Look 585 - 6.8 kg
Look 695 SR

I agree.
I hope the competition stays around and inspires WW's to push on a bit further.

The best should not be the one with the most expensive components, it should be the most innovative re-worked bike IMO.
Personally i would probably die if i could see a super mechanical bike more than the electronic shifting bikes.
In some ways WW seems to execute all in weight savings. I would love to see more engineering.
I still have wet dreams about a super exclusive mechanical groupset.

Thanks!! Much more to come. I've started to build frames now and they will be very unique with full custom layup. Stay tuned for that.

@wheelsonfire, check the best of ww thread in the Introduce yourself forum. There's a few highly tuned bikes in there but a lot of people don't like how they look. It's on a completely different level to pull off a super tuned build that actually looks nice.

Sorry for the possibly stupid question, but where does one go to see the competition winners?
BTW, I fully agree with those who feel that the winner should be a custom, tuned bike and not some mega-dollar build bought by someone whose weight-weenie-ism vision is limited to the width of their wallet and technical abilities to dialing the number of their LBS.

The winners were posted on the banner, but I think the starbike crew took it down... I'll see if I can get a list of the winners and post them here.
And congrats Kevosinn I love the level of detail and tuning that went into your build. I hope you continue to produce stunners like that

Is there a link to the competition?
Go to: http://www.starbike.com/galleries/
And on the top orange banner, click "EVENT FINISHED", and the list of winners will drop down.
