Hi guys,

Ive been digging around the internet for ages and have found nothing in the way of any firm conclusion on the subject.

So Im starting to think that if running an 11 speed chain on 10 speed chainrings WAS an issue, there would be much more talk about it.

But to strengthen my understanding, has anyone had experience of running an 11 speed chain on a 10 speed crankset/chainrings?

Specifically, I'm looking to run a shimano chain on FSA chainrings.

Why not just get an 11 speed chainring? I can get a cracking deal on some 10 speed chainrings/crank, but its not a deal if the two arent compatible/will shift poorly....

Thanks for any feedback!

A simple google search returned this http://velonews.competitor.com/2015/03/bikes-and-tech/technical-faq/technical-faq-10-11-speed-drivetrain-component-compatibility_362722 and as with Lennard both my 11-speed bikes run 10-speed cranksets.

The inside width of the chains is the same between 10 and 11. The rings don't know the difference.
There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?

One.

So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.

I've been running 11-speed cassette and chain with 10-speed chainrings (either BOR or SRAM rings) all season. No issues.

I have run a 9 speed chain ring on my 10 speed setup and haven't noticed any difference.. Not same criteria as for you but should work.

Generally you won't have problems using 10 speed rings with 11 speed chain.

The best upgrade for a 10spd system is an 11spd chain
