I'm currently running a KMC x11 sl in gold on my colnago c40 and when the c60 finally arrives I will getting a new chain and was wondering if anyone recommends a different chain. I've only done 2500 on the kmc chain at the moment and it feels pretty worn (i ride in all conditions + race on the c40) and advice would be appreciated.
ps groupset is campagnolo record 11 with rotor crank + Q rings :D

There are other chain tools that work just fine too for peening the pin. Kinda like you don't have to use a Campy cork screw for your bottle of wine. It's super nice! but it's not the only thing that will get the job done.

Campagnolo goes for the most optimum solution and therefore they insist to only peen it.
http://www.campagnolo.com/media/files/0 ... _11_13.pdf
Also when removing the chain and repeen they insist to use Campagnolo Chainlock CN-RE500 HD Link 11-speed

However Practice shows quick links works completely ok for Campagnolo 11 speed chains.

So its up to you.
Dunno where you live but in my country I can buy a Record 11 speed chain for 40 euro. Alternatives are around same price so there is no need to go for an other chain than Campa.
If you want to peen. There are several chaintools that will do the job, much cheaper than the Campa tool. But the Campa tool is a class of its own. You need to search for a reasonable price. Or someone that ditch it because they only use quick links.

Personally for a campa chain I would go for KMC 11 speed quick links. Buy them on ebay directly from Taiwan where they are made. Buy them in bulk to make it cheaper on the long term.

I just saw a video about Wipperman Connex chains, and they seem very well made. Have you experienced any difference in lifespan between the Campagnolo and Wipperman? I've always considered the Record chain to be the unsung hero of the entire gruppo, but if there is something better...

I don't think you can beat the KMC chain.

If your not worried about weight the wippermann CONNEX 11SX chains are extremely durable, the connex quick link is so easy to open or close by hand without any tools

You think that based on what?

Discussions on chains you will find in large amount here and elsewhere.
Pretty chewed out topic imo.

Campagnolo is already for many many years the reference in chains.
Durable, strong, light and silent.
