Another thread got me thinking, is there a bit of a gap in the market for custom components that are the next level up from present offerings.

Not knocking how good integrated saddle-seat posts or handlebar-stem combos have come. But is there a niche for, say, an integrated handlebar and stem with a Garmin mount built in to the stem (pimped out 3T Integra) - with the bar a possible aero profile and recesses for Di2 climbing shifters or SRAM Blips.

Or custom carbon stems - where you can stipulate length and drop (say -12).

I'm sure there are other examples. Or is all this being done and I've simply missed it?

But still CEN qualified! That would be cool.

Doing something with custom carbon stems would be really cool. Especially if it could be mixed into an aero combo like the one found on the new Madone, but you could specify the exact length and angle.

I would like a 45cm wide handlebar.

I would also like to test a super compact handlebar that has 65mm reach and 115mm drop.

And i want aftermarket hoods for DA9000 that have a grippy texture.

A time pedal based power meter. I doubt this will ever happen though.

heated saddle? love my heated car seats.

In seriousness would like to see customizable reach, drop and width bars and stems with custom stack, length and angles.

Am asking for next level custom carbon parts, not 'dream components'. But thanks.

Think the customers would be well in tune enough to be able to specify those handlebar specifics? And accept that if they get it wrong it's on them?

Product liability is a 2 ton gorilla in this discussion.

Honestly I've seen both sides of the coin when it comes to custom parts/bike design. It would just need some specific and clear disclaimers in the ordering process.

At least in the U,S., lawyers don't care about no stinking specific and clear disclaimers in the ordering process. They still sue and win, or at least get a nice settlement.

Please god a helmet.

A helmet that fits. Also potentially a lot more aero.

Come on someone. Measuring system + know how + 3D printer and some foam = cash

Wiggins has recently been spotted on the track with some insane custom shoes that look like a WW's dream. Not sure how many people offer custom shoes but that would potentially be a BIG market to enter, especially if someone could offer differing levels of customization at multiple price points.

A friend and I conceptualized a 3D saddle printer over a (few) bottle(s) of wine.
It takes your seatbone meassurements and then prints a saddle deck to a set of rails.

how about customized cassettes?
eg current shimano 11-28 goes 15-17-19-21-23-25-28
current sram 11-28 goes 15-16-17-19-22-25-28
I dont like the large jump 15-17, nor 19-22, but do not really care at the low end
I'd like 15-16-17-19-21-24-28

This topic got me thinking about the fact that nowdays many stem producers just do stem lenghts based on 1cm, and it's less common to get stems for 0.5cm.

Im not a fan of integrated bar/stem but a custom stems in either alloy or carbon would be great.
