I know nothing has been posted here for a while, but I'm wondering what stem lengths you were using wheelsONfire? A shorter stem would cause less stress on the steerer I assume? I'm asking because I'm considering this stem myself, but I really don't want to mess up my steerer. Have anyone contacted Extralite regarding this issue? Also, on the stem itself it says that 4nm is the maximum allowed tension, could this maybe solve the problem (less chance of microscopic movement between the stem and the steerer)?

Extralite switched the design of fork clamp in the HyperStem. Now they are round (instead sharp like before). You can read more about along this topic (drawing posted by PSM on page 3).
