Raw carbon look on sram force cranks!
Moderator: robbosmans
Hello guys,
I'm new here, so i will intreduce myself fast! Love road bikes, i ride almost everyday (500k per week) and i'm original from Portugal but living in Paris, France! Ah and i'm 27years old!
So now the big thing, i have a Sram Force crankset and i'm happy with the performance but they look a bit bad near the pedals, so i will get a new frame during next week (focus izalco max) and i dont want to plug a bad looking crankset, so i would like to now if i can sandpapper it till raw carbon and leave it like this or if there is something else i can do!
Thank you all
John

John, it is perfectly fine to do, but you might want to give them a clear coat with laquer.

Be sure to use a breathing mask and gloves. Carbon fiber particles are not good in your body or lungs
Razor blade method works very well on the cranks. See my Xicon build for pics.

depends upon the seatpost diameter and length but you have a light set up for sure
I did exactly what you are thinking of. It was a Quarq/force crankset with Sram logos. I started with 400 grit to get the logos off, then I used some 800 to smoothen things out, and 1200 to finish it off. Then I coated it with some clearcoat.

Have just started razor blading the Specialized S-Works cranks for my bike.
Looking fad to the weight saving over the Force22 that is on there now, especially as I'll be using Qman's WW custom alloy spider too. I'm going the flat black option to suit the rest of the bike
