I was reading another thread that said one should not use a nice carbon bike because of the risks / crashes in criteriums?
I thought carbon was supposed to be tough?
Aluminum is better for crit races?

I would guess people like aluminum because aluminum frames are generally cheaper to replace than carbon frames.

Right. That's it. Old Cannondales are popular because they are stiff and cheap.

never race anything you cannot afford to replace... a carbon frame can be repaired if crashed, most aluminum frames are trash if bent or dented

Never line up on something you can't afford to throw in the trash dumpster after the race. Al frames can be easier to do that with usually. [emoji6]
