I see intrepid have an 11-speed chain proclaiming to be the lightest at 1.93g/link versus around 2.1 for other hollow pin types.

Any views/experience?

Also, the black-coated one they do, with the DLC suffix - similar question, although very marginally heavier due to what I can only guess is a "Diamond Like Coating"...?!

DLC is a KMC moniker.

It's probably a black nitriding process. If it is, then I would believe the claims. I have an AR barrel that is nitrided. I can rub a file on the outside and it wears the file with no effect on the barrel.

Apart from aesthetics I don't see the point in a harder coating for something that is running over a metal (aluminium) that already is a lot softer. Don't mind replacing a chain / cogset but I'd like to chainrings to last as long as possible. But if you're looking for a black chain it might be an option.

^ agree entirely. Bit like engine braking using gears in a car - brake pads are cheaper than gearboxes...

However, was just curious from a lightness and performance standpoint.

Will stick with Record chain...

Gears are wearing on the non wear side while braking [in cars]. A lot less load too.
