I have some campag bora ultra 2 wheels and I'm hoping to buy a Look 795. I've been told that it's far simpler to go with shimano as the battery and wiring fits better in the frame. I'm going to run ultegra Di2 mechs (11speed) with a record cassette what kind of chain would be best to use on this? I'm assuming a campag one or would a kmc chain suffice? Does anyone run anything similar without any problems?

I run a 9070 groupset with shamal ultra wheels, record cassette and dura ace chain. Works like a charme!

On my 2nd bike I run ultegra di2 with capagnolo shamal wheels, chorus cassette, and campag sr 11speed chain.
No issues at all.

It's all interchangeable either way you go. I use Ultegra chains and cassettes on my Campy bike because of the cost savings.

Same here...11s Ultegra cassette and Ultegra chain works perfectly with Campy 11s.

awesome, cheers, heard that there can be some rumblings with the opposing chain but I hope to use one which at least matches the cassette.

I have customers running variations of your setup with no real issues.
I think the Ultegra chains have been the longest lasting amongst them though.

I thought i would finally try this myself and I don't quite agree with the consensus.

On 2014 Record with Neutron Ultra Wheels I tried:

Ultegra 11 chain and cassette
ulterga 11 chain and super record cassette
Record chain and ultegra cassette

The only combination that worked well was the last ie record chain and ultegra cassette, even with endless fine tuning I couldn't get the other combinations to run as quietly as I would like.

So whilst you can run all combinations I would suggest they are sub optimal. I will run with the record chain and ultegra cassette for a couple weeks and see how it goes.
