The most common suggestion here seems to be an Arundel Mandible as water bottle cage.
So I bought two of those and tried to mount one on the seattube of a Time VRS.
Unfortunately the front derailleur hanger interferes with the installation as the back of the cage is flat.
I could solve the problem by putting washers underneath the cage, however, I'm wondering whether other cages would be a good alternative.
I have one Time cage (http://www.totalcycling.com/en/Time-Car ... 19454.aspx) that works pretty well but is rather expensive (seems it is not made anymore?)
Some alternatives that seem interesting are

Deda SR1 (22g claimed weight, not sure whether the cutout is large enough to avoid hitting the hanger)
Topeak Shuttle CB (20g claimed weight)

Any experience with those (or others that are similar) holding a bottle when used on the seattube?

Some other cages I tried but didn't hold the bottle (when mounted on the seattube):
Bontrager XXX, Blackburn Slick, Forte Corsa, Forte Omega.

u will run in to this issue with nearly all cages, when fitting a cage over a der clamp, so the washers fix is the most reliable (and not uncommon). Try and find a single washer 3-4 mm tall that will fit snug around the bolt and provide a broad enough platform to support the back of the carbon cage.

I'd just get some stainless washers from the hardware store and call it a day.

The nut that comes on tubes with threaded valves work great.

Let me ask this differently, i.e., ignore (the workaround for mounting) the Mandible: I'm looking for experiences with bottle cages like:

Deda SR1
Topeak Shuttle CB
Smud Ultralight for road

Do these cages hold a water bottle properly when mounted on a seattube?
